100DaysToOffload - Looking back at the first six months
I decided to take part in 100DaysToOffload to encourage me to write more, and to be more consistent with my blog. Throughout the first six months of 2026 I have not missed a single Week Note post and I am insanely proud of myself for not getting bored and giving up on those. It has made me spend more time documenting the things we get up to, and I am looking forward to a day in the far future where I can look back and relive these memories.
Looking Back
- Total posts published: 45
- Time span: 174 days (2026-01-04 to 2026-06-30)
- Average cadence: 1 post every 3.87 days (~1.7 per week)
- On track for 100? At current pace, ~94 posts by 31 Dec. Need roughly 1 post every 3.5 days for the rest of the year to hit the target.
Highlights
My top three posts by the numbers are "I started a photo blog", "Implementing a Random Post button on Bear Blog", and "Week Notes 2026-10". I have absolutely no idea why that specific week post got more attention than the rest but that's part of the fun.
My favourite posts though are less well read: "A year of National Trust Visits" & "Dolphin Spotting, Gold Mines, and Coastal Walks: A Week in West Wales π¬". I really enjoy sitting down after a trip, writing some notes and turning that into a fun travel post. It's a great excuse to actually use all the photos we take too.
Looking Forward
At my current pace, I will just miss my goal of 100 posts by 03-January-2027. To help ensure that doesn't happen I've started working on several draft posts stored away in my Obisidian vault. The goal is to always have 5-10 posts ready to go, and maybe even sneakily post them ahead of time. I have 55 posts to go before the the year which is roughly 9 posts a month. After taking away the remaining 25 week notes, I am left with 30 posts in 6 months which is a much more reasonable sounding 5 posts a month... I've added a schedule to my calendar to help remind me to post! Wish me luck!
