Pontcysyllte Aqueduct & Canal World Heritage Site
Back in September, I found myself near Wrexham with some time to kill after a work meeting finished earlier than expected. Instead of going straight home, I stuck around and took a walk over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. It's been in the news this recently as it is undergoing its regular twenty year drain down for maintenance which reminded me to write this post!
Parking was easy - I think I paid about £3 for a few hours. Once you've parked, it is a flat walk out past the locks towards the aqueduct.
The views were breath taking, and I nearly had the footpath to myself as I've managed to pick a quiet time! The path is very narrow and every bit as nerve wracking as it looks but I do reckon it'd feel ten times worse standing on the deck of a boat as it crossed. One side, you're gonna get wet and the otherside you're gonna fall a few hundred feet. Don't visit if you're afraid of heights!
