Week Notes - 2026-28
Another week, another heatwave. Not much activity this week as we've been too busy hiding from the Sun. Having said that, I've continued my trend of losing weight! It may have something to do with the heat suppressing my appetite, but I'll take it as a win. I'm now down to where I was about 18 months ago, and I am starting to feel the difference in clothes which is rather motivational.
๐ฎ Gaming
On the gaming front this week, it was once again too hot for me to want to sit in my study in the evenings. Instead I played the start of Ni No Kuni on Switch. I remember playing this back at in 2013 on PS3, but apparently I didn't play that much as I'd completely forgotten the battle system is a action-turn based system... which I don't really enjoy.
I'm going to persevere and see if it grows on me because other than the battle the system the charm is full of charm. I mean it sent me off to find a red herring in the first thirty minutes. How can you not like that?

๐ Reading
I've been cracking on with Mythos by Stephen Fry. I am really enjoying it, and love learning all the connections between the Greek pantheon and the modern world. Their influence is widespread.
I actually need to visit my local library to renew my card this week so they don't cut off my access to eBooks!
Movies and TV
This week we started season 2 of Avatar the Legend of Ang on Netflix. It's decent, but I feel the episodes are a bit on the long side. We also watched "The Drama" starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. I was mostly expecting a rom-com. My expectation was highly incorrect. Great film!
I want to try and start watching at least one film a week, where we put our phones in a completely different room.
๐ก Blog
I spruced up my blog this week. A new coat of paint, and a new homepage. I am really happy with it. I also worked on a generator for my /bookshelf page. I kept breaking it when manually adding items to the javascript. Now I have a python script that creates the entire element from a CSV file ready for me to copy and paste.
The photo blog 2.0 was finished week too. This was a vibe coded effort to construct a photo-based static site generator.
I undertook the project as I wanted to create something I would genuinely use with Claude Code. I learnt lots about effectively prompting, how Claude and Git work together, and also about web accessibility.
The photo blog generator is a Python script that takes an input of images, and spits out a fancy responsive, accessible photo gallery that I am very proud of.
It's going to be the home for my photography and video game screenshots. Feel free to subscribe to the feed if you're so inclined.
I'll work on releasing the generator code when I get a spare moment.
